At Goumbook, we believe education is a powerful driver of sustainable change.
In 2025, this belief guided our work through the Takween Al Ghurair program. From January 1st to December 31st 2025, Goumbook delivered sustainability education across schools in the UAE. The year marked an important milestone in our journey with Abdullah Al Ghurair Foundation through the Takween Al Ghurair program. Together, we focused on practical learning. Learning that connects environmental awareness to everyday life. Learning that empowers young people to take responsibility.
2025 Programme Reach and Impact
Throughout 2025, the Takween Al Ghurair program continued to grow in scale and depth. Over the year, Goumbook reached 733 students. This impact was achieved through 126 interactive sustainability workshops. Sessions were delivered across 7 schools and 2 Youth Hubs. These included schools in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, RAK, UAQ. Each workshop was designed to be participatory. Students were encouraged to ask questions and share ideas. This approach supports deeper understanding and long-term impact.
What Sustainability Education Looked Like
Within the Takween Al Ghurair program, Goumbook focuses on practical sustainability topics. All concepts are introduced in clear and accessible language. Students explored themes such as waste reduction and conscious consumption. Conscious consumption means being aware of what we buy and use. It also means reducing waste whenever possible. Sessions also addressed climate awareness and resource use. Resources include water, energy, and raw materials. Students learned why protecting these resources matters. Activities were hands-on and collaborative. They helped students connect sustainability to their daily routines. This made learning relevant and engaging.
Why Youth-Focused Sustainability Education Matters
Young people play a critical role in shaping the future. Early education builds awareness that lasts a lifetime. Sustainability education supports informed decision-making. It encourages responsibility at both personal and community levels. Through Takween Al Ghurair, Goumbook supports national sustainability goals. The programme aligns with the UAE’s vision for environmental stewardship. It also supports youth empowerment through education.
Looking Ahead Beyond 2025
The 2025 milestones reflect strong collaboration and shared commitment between Goumbook and the Abdullah Al Ghurair Foundation. They also highlight the growing need for sustainability education. In the coming phases, Goumbook aims to expand its reach. Future plans include engaging 800 students. The program also aims to reach more than 100 additional sessions. While new session formats and themes are being explored, they will continue to focus on practical impact and relevance. Student engagement and tangible impact will remain at the center of delivery.
