Launching the Take a Breath School Study Short Report

After months of dedicated work, research, and collaboration, we are proud to announce the launch of the Take a Breath School Study Short Report, a milestone in our mission to improve indoor air quality (IAQ) in UAE schools.

Why does this matter? 

Because clean indoor air is essential for children’s health, well-being, and learning outcomes. Students spend most of their day in classrooms, and poor IAQ can affect concentration, increase absenteeism, and lead to long-term respiratory issues.

Take a Breath, an initiative by Goumbook and endorsed by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, aligns with the UAE National Air Quality Agenda 2031 and global commitments such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3: Good Health, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities, SDG 13: Climate Action).

In the 2023–2024 academic year, we monitored IAQ in primary classrooms across Dubai and Sharjah, measuring pollutants like PM2.5, VOCs, and CO₂. This first-of-its-kind study identified challenges, tested interventions, and now provides practical recommendations to help schools create healthier learning environments.
