What is UNISOAP UAE initiative?

Did you know that hotels in the UAE throw away 16 million soap bars every year? Meanwhile, 2.3 billion people worldwide still lack a basic handwashing facility with water and soap at home (World Health Statistics 2022). Tackling these two challenges in an interconnected way, UNISOAP UAE turns waste into value to serve those in need and fosters circular economy.

UNISOAP UAE is a sustainability initiative powered by Goumbook that focuses on recycling discarded hotel soaps to benefit both people and planet.

The program, launched in partnership with the French NGO UNISOAP in spring 2023, aims to address the issue of wastefulness in the hospitality industry while simultaneously providing access to hygiene resources to underprivileged communities. The initiative aligns with governmental and industry-specific sustainability goals and promotes positive environmental and social impacts with a local focus.
