It was the month of June in Nepal, the monsoons were awesome, the humidity quite high. After spending 2 weeks in an Ashram refreshing our bodies with yoga and meditation, eating simple vegan food and staying in a humble lodging I decided to treat myself to a night in a funky boutique hotel in Kathmandu before flying out the next day.
This is where I was first introduced to the gorgeous Koseli products. They were so beautifully laid out, on a rose wood soap stand, with a really interesting story about how the products were produced – ethically, organically, fairtrade and the best part was: NO PLASTIC.
And then I tried them in the shower and fell in love immediately. They are just awesome to use. I must admit the worst thing about the products is that I want to use each of them (body, shampoo, conditioner, beard bar) every time I shower, which I think is probably going overboard, given I shower twice a day.
One of the things I hate, as an environmentalist and frequent traveler, is the use of plastics in hotels and at home. I found it very difficult to find hair products that didn’t come in a plastic bottle and that was organic and made me feel good to use.
And as a man with a beard, here was a product that actually was specifically catered to me. How cool I thought.
This got my entrepreneurial juices flowing and environmental passions boiling and so I thought, why not give other people, who share a similar philosophy, the chance to experience this great product, a chance to bring this gift* to the Middle East.
* It is cool to note that Koseli is Nepalese for Gift!
So “A Bar of Soap” was created with the following key things in mind:
· our products must be plastic free
· they must be natural and organic
· they must be a pleasure to use
As our business grows, we intend to introduce more environmentally- friendly NO PLASTIC products to our range to help you live a more guilt-free existence.
Plastic-Free Toothpaste is my next mission!
