Beyond Recognition: Why Measuring Impact Matters More Than Ever

Recognition is always an honour. But in sustainability, recognition should never be the destination – it should be a reflection of meaningful progress.

We are incredibly proud that Goumbook has been awarded the Platinum Impact Seal by MAJRA – the National CSR Fund, the highest level of recognition in the SME category for sustainability and impact performance. While this milestone is one we celebrate, what makes it truly significant is what it represents: a growing commitment across the UAE to measuring, validating, and accelerating positive impact.

As sustainability moves from aspiration to implementation, organisations are increasingly being asked an important question: What difference are you actually making?

The era of good intentions is giving way to the era of measurable outcomes.

The Shift from Commitments to Impact

Over the past decade, sustainability has become central to business strategy. Companies are setting ambitious ESG goals, governments are introducing new frameworks, and consumers and investors alike are demanding greater transparency.

Yet ambition alone is no longer enough.

Real progress requires organisations to demonstrate how their actions contribute to environmental protection, social wellbeing, and economic resilience. It requires data, accountability, collaboration, and a willingness to continuously improve.

Frameworks such as the MAJRA Impact Seal represent this important evolution. They recognise organisations not simply for participating in sustainability initiatives, but for demonstrating measurable and lasting impact.

This is a positive shift – not because recognition matters in itself, but because it encourages better practices, stronger partnerships, and greater transparency across the ecosystem.

Sustainability Is a Collective Journey

One of the greatest lessons we have learned at Goumbook is that impact cannot be created in isolation.

Every successful programme we have delivered has been built through collaboration—with government entities, corporate partners, researchers, communities, schools, volunteers, and experts who bring different perspectives and capabilities to the table.

Whether restoring ecosystems, advancing biodiversity conservation, promoting responsible consumption, supporting circular economy solutions, or encouraging climate action, lasting change happens when organisations work together towards shared goals. Our role has always been to act as a bridge between sectors, connecting ideas with action and turning shared ambition into measurable results

Why Measurement Builds Trust

Measuring impact is not simply about reporting numbers.

It is about understanding what works, identifying where improvements are needed, and ensuring that resources are creating meaningful outcomes. It strengthens decision-making, increases accountability, and builds confidence among partners, stakeholders, and communities.

Most importantly, it helps ensure that sustainability efforts create genuine value rather than simply good intentions.

As the UAE continues to position itself as a global leader in sustainable development, robust impact measurement will become increasingly important. It enables organisations to contribute more effectively to national priorities while creating long-term value for society and the environment.

A Shared Achievement

Receiving the Platinum Impact Seal is a proud moment for Goumbook, but it is also a reflection of the incredible community that has made our work possible.

We are honoured to have received this recognition during a ceremony held in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, alongside H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Cabinet Member and Minister of Economy and Tourism, H.E. Sarah Shaw, CEO of MAJRA – the National CSR Fund, and representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, and other UAE government entities.

This achievement belongs to our dedicated team, our partners, our supporters, and every organisation and individual who has collaborated with us over the years. Their trust and commitment have enabled us to develop initiatives that create measurable impact and contribute to the UAE’s sustainability vision.

We are equally proud to be recognised alongside a remarkable group of organisations including Majid Al Futtaim, SLB, ADNOC Group, TAQA Group, Emirates, DP World, RAK Ceramics, ATÖLYE, SPARKLO, and many others whose work demonstrates that sustainability leadership is becoming embedded across every sector of the economy.

Looking Ahead

Recognition provides an opportunity to pause and reflect, but it also comes with responsibility.

For Goumbook, this milestone strengthens our commitment to developing solutions that are not only innovative but measurable, scalable, and rooted in collaboration.
