Having partnered with AIESEC under the Refill UAE campaign, Goumbook was invited to the YouthSpeak Forum (YSF), an event bringing together young and senior leaders to form a diverse cross-sector and multi-generational space for inspiring conversations around pressing global issues.
This year’s forum, which was held virtually on June 19th, 2021, addressed water security: a pressing global issue requiring the cooperation of governments, companies, and academics. Being a dynamic, action-oriented platform, the YSF also stresses the power of each and every individual to contribute through action themselves. Aligning the forum to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which it aims to promote through education and action, the 2021 YSF focused on SDGs 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), 12 (Responsible Production and Consumption), and 14 (Life Below Water).
Under the main theme H2GO, youth were empowered to learn from organizations that are currently taking proactive steps towards them. Despite being a 100% virtual event this year, attendees participated in challenges throughout the day to further their understanding of the SDGs and identify what concrete actions they can take towards the Global Goals. Top business and thought leaders from around the world were invited to share their knowledge with participants through talks, workshops, and conversations, empowering them to look for more opportunities and understand the impact they can make on a daily basis.
