Partnership with a purpose between Goumbook, One Good Thing and local schools
As social enterprises striving to have positive impact on people and planet, creating partnerships and giving back to the community comes naturally. To our delight, Goumbook and One Good Thing finally got the opportunity to work together for a good cause during a difficult period.
Each time a 100 packs of school masks are bought via One Good Thing, one Ghaf tree gifted by Goumbook is planted at the school as a reminder of how important and easy it is to make a positive difference. During the pandemic, over 1200 masks were sold and more than 50 schools participated, with two schools now planting trees within their premises.
As the campaign comes to an end, a Ghaf tree was planted at Safa British School and Dubai International Academy Al Barsha. For the schools that did not reach the minimum number of masks sold, one tree will be planted on their behalf.
“With the help of the schools, parents and children, this campaign was able to support a local tailor and use leftover material that would have otherwise gone to landfill, all while contributing to the environment and the preservation of local heritage by planting the UAE national tree. This is why Goumbook was happy to partner with One Good thing to make a positive impact. In the face of adversity, we are all capable of doing good and supporting one another”, said Tatiana Antonelli, Founder of Goumbook.

“It’s a testament to the power of community, goodwill and the inherent desire to do good that we have been able to do this and continue to support a local tailors and reduce the waste created by disposable masks. It seems that masks are going to be needed for schools for some time yet so our fantastic partnership with Goumbook will continue and we will be planting even more trees in schools when we reach that magic number”, continued Bridgett.
